WHY HAWAIIAN CHICKEN AND COCONUT RICE?
I constantly dream of the island life.

Island life. That sipping-fruity-alcoholic-drink, live-in-your-bathing-suit, sand-between-your-toes, go-to-sleep-listening-to-the-ocean-breeze, eating-fresh-seafood-and-tropical-fruits-all-the-time kinda life.

I grew up in Penang, an real island in Malaysia, and as you perhaps guessed, life then was unlike the island life I simply described. Island life (as described by yours truly) is the holiday kinda life. The time if you are, of course, on an island, then you definitely simply unwind, permit cross of the world’s trouble, and bask within the magnificence and splendor that's all round you.

I am loving this Hawaiian Chicken and Coconut Rice dish as it takes me to the island life, holiday life, or no matter you desire to name it. Since island life isn’t going on every time soon, I’m BRINGING IT TO ME.

A girl’s gotta cross what a girl’s gotta do. 🙂

The marinade is soy-based with a mix of salty, sweet, tangy and fruity flavors. The dish also incorporates tropical foods resembling pineapple and coconut, and has a little bit of a polynesian flare to it. It truly reminds John and me so a lot of the meals we had whereas we had been in French Polynesia. We had seven superb days of island life. And then we got sick within the center of it. What can I say, fact usually sneaks in, even in island life.

But heavily friends, one chew into this factor and I AM BACK ON THAT ISLAND. Sand among my ft and all.

HOW TO MAKE HAWAIIAN CHICKEN?
This is a marinate and grill (on a grill pan or exterior grill) type of recipe. EASY PEASY. If you don't have a grill or don't desire to clutter with it, it'll work pan fried as well. The in simple terms factor lacking might be grill marks. I do love me a few grill marks, simply due to the fact they certain are pretty, but now not necessary.

If you use an exterior grill, you do get a little bit of a smoky style which is all of the time a plus. But honestly, the marinade is so nice it'll work simply tremendous indoor (not to point out simpler blank up) on a grill pan or a traditional pan.

The marinade for the hen has a range of flavors – sweet, salty, tangy, tropical, and citrusy consisting of pineapple juice, soy sauce, garlic, ketchup, vegetable oil, and brown sugar. It is a gorgeous, beautiful marinade. This recipe calls for marinating it for an hour, but within the event you're planning forward you'll give you the chance to permit it sit for as a whole lot as 24 hours.

In fact, the longer the hen sits within the marinade, the extra flavorful the hen is.

When the hen is totally cooked, brush honey generously on equally facets of the chicken. Honey, blended with all of the flavors within the marinade, create this sticky, complicated concoction of flavors that's simply out-of-this-world delicious. YUM.

HOW TO SERVE HAWAIIAN CHICKEN?

Another cause why I love this dish is the grilled pineapple. There’s anything magical about placing recent ripe pineapple on  grill (or pan). It  caramelizes the pineapple and brings out so a lot sweetness.

In my humble opinion, there’s simply one solution to make this Hawaiian Chicken dish complete. And that's to serve it with coconut rice. The concept of serving this with coconut rice was impressed by one among my favourite Malaysian dishes, Nasi Lemak, which is a rice dish cooked with coconut milk.

Fragrant coconut rice, blended with the salty, sweet, tangy, citrusy chicken, and the candy and warm pineapple, will tantalize your tastebuds, and take you on a a fun culinary adventure. So many other flavors and textures, and so very, very good.

And guess what? Simple and simple to make.
